We have just received the new cookie cutters from RICE. They are brilliant! They come in a pack of 3 different shapes, flamingo, lips and hearts. As soon as we opened the box Issy and I abandoned everything and got baking. We have a very simple short bread recipe and as soon as the biscuits had cooled with set to work with the decorating. I am still finding hundreds and thousands everywhere!
The cutters look a bit strange but the idea is present your delicious cookies on the edge of your gorgeous melamine beaker or one of the new RICE melamine cups. Issy made a ridiculously sweet hot chocolate and dunked happily away on her very pink, very glittery flamingo cookie masterpiece.
I have a free set of cookie cutters to give away in return for a recipe and a photo. Please email me to win.
So Simple Short Bread Recipe
- 125g butter
- 55g caster sugar
- 180g plain flower
Heat your oven to about 190 degrees or gas mark 5, we have an aga so it is a bit of a guessing game.
Beat the butter and the sugar together until the mixture is smooth.
Stir in the flour to get a smooth paste, turn the mixture out onto the work top or a board and gently roll it out until the mixture is about 1cm thick.
Use your fabulous new RICE cookie cutters to cut out your desired shapes and pop them onto a baking tray. If you have time you can pop them in the fridge to chill for about 15 mins.
Bake in the oven for about 15-20 mins until the biscuits are a pale golden brown colour.
Pop the cookies on a wire tray to cool, then let your creative juices flow and get decorating!
Hang your cookie over your new RICE melamine cup and enjoy!
